The Manifestor Strategy: Why Informing Is Not Our True Strategy
The Debate Around Informing
In the Human Design community, there is ongoing discussion about whether informing is truly the strategy of Manifestors. While it is widely taught as such, many Manifestors know deep down that our real strategy is to initiate. Informing is simply a mechanism that helps us function within society, but it is not the driving force behind our nature. Understanding this distinction is crucial for Manifestors who struggle with the expectation that informing should come naturally.
The Struggle with Informing
Many Manifestors experience challenges with informing.
We are told it is our strategy, yet it often feels unnatural, as if we either inform too much or too little. This creates confusion and frustration, making us question whether we are doing it “correctly.”
Informing can feel forced, unnecessary, or even burdensome, leaving us wondering why something meant to help us can instead create resistance.
Informing and Resistance
The primary reason we are encouraged to inform is to reduce resistance.
However, in practice, informing can sometimes have the opposite effect.
Instead of easing interactions, it may create friction, as others perceive us as being controlling, demanding, or inconsiderate. Many people react poorly when we inform them of our plans, assuming we are dictating their actions rather than simply communicating our intentions.
This can lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary conflict.
Initiating Is Our True Strategy
At our core, Manifestors are designed to initiate.
Unlike Generators, who are meant to respond, or Projectors, who must wait for invitations, we are the ones who start things. This is what comes naturally to us—taking action without waiting for permission.
Informing is not about seeking approval but about creating smoother interactions by giving others a heads-up. The more we embrace our role as initiators, the more aligned and empowered we feel.
Informing as a Social Integration Tool
While initiating is our true strategy, informing helps us integrate into the world around us. When we look at the other Human Design types, we see that each has a built-in way of engaging with society—Generators respond, Projectors wait for invitations, and Reflectors follow the lunar cycle for clarity, or waiting on the answer to come from others. These strategies give them a framework for interaction.
For Manifestors, informing serves this purpose, allowing us to bridge the gap between our independence and the expectations of others.
Informing the Universe
Informing is not just about the people in our lives—it is also about informing the universe. When we clearly express our intentions, we align our energy with what we are initiating. This process helps us manifest more effectively, ensuring that the energy around us supports our actions rather than working against them.
Informing the universe is a way of solidifying our direction and enhancing our ability to create what we desire.

Tips for Effective Informing
Keep it brief – Informing doesn’t mean over-explaining. A simple statement is often enough to prevent resistance and misunderstandings.
Choose your audience – Some people will resist no matter what, while others will appreciate being kept in the loop. Focus your energy on those who benefit from the information.
Don’t ask for permission – Informing is not about seeking approval but about providing clarity on what is happening.
Be mindful of your closed aura – Manifestors have an aura that can feel intense to others. A little context in our communication can help prevent unnecessary friction. (Personal tip- if you’re informing in a text message- add emojis, otherwise people will think you’re mad at them…)
Embracing Initiation While Using Informing Wisely
Manifestors are here to initiate, not just inform. Informing is a tool to help smooth our path, but it does not replace our true nature as initiators. When we fully embrace our ability to start things while using informing strategically, we can move through the world with greater ease and effectiveness.
