Hey lovelies, Emotional 4/6 Mani here, and I noticed something in the past few years, kinda like a cheat-code to recharge, or subside some of the anger, and I had to share!
(It relates to our environment…)
In Human Design, our environments are more than just the spaces we occupy; they’re where we’re meant to thrive, process, and recharge. Each environment type reflects the conditions under which we’re most aligned and supported in our energy. As a Manifestor, a being designed to initiate and lead, understanding your unique environment can be a powerful tool for managing emotions, especially anger, and replenishing your energy.
What Are Environments in Human Design?
In Human Design, environments are categorized spaces or settings that align with your energetic blueprint. There are six primary environment types: Markets, Kitchens, Valleys, Mountains, Caves, and Shores. Your environment isn’t just a physical location; it’s a dynamic space that resonates with your energy, influencing your mental clarity, emotional processing, and physical vitality. For Manifestors, tapping into their specific environment can help release anger (a common theme for our aura type) and restore energy in the ebb and flow of daily life.
My Experience as a Manifestor in Kitchens

As a 4/6 Manifestor with an emotional authority, I’ve come to understand how critical my kitchen environment is to my well-being. The kitchen—an archetypal space of creation and transformation—gives me solace during emotional waves and low-energy periods. There’s something grounding about the rhythmic act of doing the dishes or slicing vegetables. The focus required for these tasks allows my mind to quiet, my emotions to settle, and my energy to recalibrate.
When anger surges after an emotional wave, retreating to my kitchen provides me with a constructive outlet. I’ve learned that the simple act of tidying the counter or placing on a huge pot of colorful multi-ingredient soup, can be enough to relax my fiery Manifestor energy. The kitchen becomes not just a functional space but a sanctuary where I reconnect with myself. Even on days when initiating feels impossible, I can always find something small to do in my kitchen, and that’s often all I need to spark my momentum.
Kitchens environment is not just about cooking or cleaning dirty dishes… It also relates to anything that one can create with their hands!
And so, a “kitchen experience” for me can also be placing a huge canvas on the floor in the middle of my living room- and painting! (I don’t even know if I can call it painting, it usually looks like just combining different colors, creating an abstract art piece, and then destroying it LOL).
Calming Anger and Restoring Energy in Your Environment
Now, you might be reading this thinking “Great, but I am not ‘kitchens’”, and so- Here are practical suggestions tailored to each of the other environment types:
Markets: Find yourself in a bustling space or simulate one at home. Engage in online shopping, research, or trade ideas with others. The stimulation of variety helps shift focus from anger and invites new perspectives.
If you’re a freelancer, or working online from home, Markets for you could also be a coworking space!Valleys: Seek out conversations or listen to the steady flow of water, music, or white noise. These auditory experiences help calm the nervous system and replenish your energy reserves. (That, of course, if you can’t go to a valley:))
Mountains: Elevate your perspective, literally or figuratively. Take a walk to a high place or spend time reflecting in solitude. The distance provides clarity and soothes heightened emotions. Generally speaking, Mountain-people would feel more comfortable living close to a mountain, or on a high floor.
Don’t live in one or have access to a mountain? Try finding restaurants or malls with a sitting corner that is taller than your usual environment.Caves: Retreat into a cozy, secure space. Dim the lights, create a quiet nook, and embrace the safety of your “cave” to process emotions and regain your strength.
Shores: Spend time near the edge of contrasting spaces—a shoreline, a city park, or the border of two rooms. Transitioning between these spaces helps you release tension and find balance.
You can also take a much longer bath, go to a swimming pool, place a long ASMR video of a beach on the TV… But yeah, the ocean is here to recharge you better than any of these.
What’s Your Environment?
Manifestors, or any other type for that matter, have you noticed how your environment influences your ability to relax anger and regain energy? (to come out of your “not self” theme?)
Feel free to share your experiences in the comments below, I’d love to read them!
K, I’m off to doing the dishes and brine multiple vegetables for no other reason than the fact that I’m in my second rest cycle and I wanna be in the kitchen as much as possible!
I'm "cave" person:) I love to rest in places similar to "cave", especially in my own home. :)
